Photo: Ondo First Female Speaker & Deputy Impeached, New Ones Elected

The Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele and her deputy, Hon. Fatai Olotu have been impeached. Sources within the Assembly said they were impeached by 18 lawmakers.
The lawmakers appended their signatures to a notice of impeachment, which was obtained.
The notice showed that the Speaker was impeached as a result of incompetence, high handedness, drunkenness, easy virtue, lack of focus, arrogance, lack of transparency and poor leadership.




The lawmakers have also elected Hon. Iroju Ogundeji from Odigbo loca government as Speaker and Hon. Ayo Arowele from Owo local government as the deputy speaker.

The impeachment exercise was carried out at one of the lawmakers’ quarters around 10pm on Tuesday.
A lawmaker, said: “I will talk to you later. The speaker has been impeached. But I can’t give you the whole gist. We will talk tomorrow”, he said.
