At least 3 pipeline maintenance workers died on Easter Sunday in Bayelsa State.According to NOSDRA (National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency), the fatal explosion happened at the Nigeria Agip Oil Company, NAOC in Bayelsa on Sunday during a routine maintenance of the pipeline.
NOSDRA DG, Idabor Peter said it happened in Olugboro village in the Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa while the maintenance workers were repairing the crude oil pipelines destroyed by vandals.

Saraki, Dogara Employs 282 Aides

 

The National Assembly management has requested the presiding officers to reduce the number of their aides by at least 60 percent as part of cost cutting measures, Daily Trust learnt yesterday.
Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and their deputies have hired over 400 aides, sources said.
Saraki is said to have over 112 aides, Dogara about 170, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu 60 and Deputy Speaker Yusuf Suleiman Lasun 58.
But the assembly bureaucracy has lately asked the presiding officers and their deputies to reduce the figures drastically.

DSP Alamieyeseigha For Burial on Saturday

 

The first civilian Governor of Bayelsa state, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha is expected to be buried this Saturday, 26th March 2016 in his hometown of Amasoma in Bayelsa State. Alamieyeseigha died on 10th October 2015 at the age of 63. Alamieyeseigha died at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital after going into coma for days.

Shybell Media who broke the news exclusively reports that multiply sources close to the situation confirmed that the talented vocalist known for hits like 'Iyawo Asiko' and 'Let them say' died this morning at an undisclosed hospital in Opebi, Ikeja Lagos. Further investigation revealed that the talented performer has been ill since January which took him off the entertainment scene.

The remains of late Minister of State for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi, as well as those of his wife and son have arrived Lokoja, the Kogi State capital ahead of their burial tomorrow.
Following the arrival of the bodies in Lokoja, the Kogi State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association is currently holding a valedictory session for the late minister, who was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
His surviving children and relatives are in attendance at the session.

Metuh Writes Petition Against Judge, Wants Trial Transferred

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, has through his lawyers asked the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, to withdraw his trial from Justice Okon Abang and re-assign it to another judge.

Justice Abang disclosed this on Thursday while writing a bench ruling on an application for adjournment  by one of the defence counsel, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN) to enable Metuh to open his defence on another date.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned Olamide's 'Bobo' for vulgar lyrics, the organisation has banned another of the singer's song- 'Don’t Stop' for the same offence.
