Senator Ali Ndume from Borno state has defeated Senator
Ahmad Lawan in a mock poll organised by the All Progressives Congress
(APC) North-east caucus.
Although Senator Lawan was not in the said election, senators from the region insisted on the candidacy of Senator Ndume, which is against the position of the party, who had directed the members to vote for Lawan.
Despite the intervention by the immediate past senate president, David Mark, who favours the emergence of Lawan, the senators still went on to pitch their tent with Ndume.
Vanguard gathered that four senators chosen by the APC would have been announced today by senate president, Bukola Saraki, but Lawan’s nomination was rejected by the APC’s North-East caucus.
At the mock election, Ndume defeated Lawan with nine votes to two. However, Lawan dismissed the exercise sayng said he was not part of it and he had no knowledge of the purported exercise.
