Indonesian Military Transport Plane Crashes In Medan Area Killing Dozens(photos)

An Indonesian air force transport plane carrying military personnel and their families plowed into a residential neighborhood in the country's third-largest city of Medan shortly after takeoff on Tuesday, killing dozens.

Television footage showed the mangled wreckage of the C-130 Hercules, a crumpled burning car and a shattered building that local media said was recently built and contained a spa, shops and homes. Smoke billowed from the site and several thousand people milled nearby. Rescue teams scrambled over the rubble, searching for any survivors.

Air force chief Air Marshall Agus Supriatna said 49 bodies have been recovered and taken to Medan's Adam Malik hospital. He said there is unlikely to be any survivors.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, generated about N8.1trillion between 2012 and May 2015, but paid only N4.3trillion to the federation account, Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, said Monday, citing new details from the federal economic council meeting.
The balance of the oil money — about N3.8trillion — was withheld and spent by the NNPC unilaterally without approval or National Assembly appropriation, the governor told journalists.
Also, the governor confirmed at the meeting that from November 2014, about $2.1billion was withdrawn from the excess crude account without the approval of the National Economic Council, NEC.

A 24-year-old Nigerian on Wednesday made history in Africa as he received a Ph.D Degree in Mathematics at the convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for the 2012/2013 academic session.

Olaoluwa Hallowed Oluwadara, whose thesis was adjudged the best in Engineering and Science, having made a cumulative grade point average of 5.0, was described as the youngest Ph.D holder in Africa.

Nick Gordon Sued For Allegedly Abusing And Stealing Money From Bobbi Kristina Brown

 

A court-appointed representative of Bobbi Kristina Brown has filed a lawsuit against her partner, Nick Gordon, claiming he took money from her and abused her physically and emotionally.

Bedilia Hargrove filed a lawsuit against Gordon on Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court. The complaint says Gordon routinely transferred large amounts of money from Brown's accounts to his without Brown's permission.

The complaint also accused Gordon of misrepresenting his relationship with Brown, being violent toward her and taking more than $11,000 from her account after she was found face down in a bathtub at her suburban Atlanta town home.

Gordon is accused of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, unjust enrichment and conversion.

The suit seeks at least $10 million in damages. A call to Gordon's attorney was not immediately returned.

Federal Government lifts ban on importation of furniture, textiles

The Nigerian government today announced that it has lifted the ban on importation of furniture and textiles materials. This was confirmed by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko. He said Nigerians can now import them but will pay 35% duty.

"Textile, furniture and others have become dutiable as both commodities have been removed from the Import Prohibition Lists and it is going to be implemented” he said

FG reviews banned products every year and recently they removed a lot of stuff from the prohibition list but they said that poultry products still remains banned.

Speaking at a meeting with the Governors in the Presidential Villa, President Buhari also vowed that funds stolen by government officials who abused their offices in the recent past will be recovered and systemic leakages stopped.
