The trailer with Lagos commercial number plate; SMK- 852- XL, was driving towards Itam Market, when the driver suddenly lost control, fell and spilling its contents on the road. The incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m on Itu Highway, near Itam Market in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The driver and his conductor who succeeded in jumping out of the moving vehicle before the crash sustained major injuries.The accident was caused by brake failure.
The trailer blocked the busy expressway resulting in a traffic gridlock that lasted several minutes
