We will engage the “Area Boys” to reduce crime - Ambode

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode while addressing Lagosians yesterday January 19, 2015 at the 2nd Quarterly Town Hall said that more people would be gainfully employed, including the street urchins popularly known as “Area Boys” in order to reduce crime.
Ambode stated that ample attention will be given to their activities in order to reduce rate of crime carried out by these idle youths.
The Governor who said he prefers to call them “Good Boys” instead of “Area Boys”, insisted that the bad impression about ‘Area Boys’ could be changed for good if they were gainfully engaged.

Ambode also revealed that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) will employ about 1,300 people. He also said that more jobs would be created in the health sector and other areas.
