EFCC Detains Brother Of Former Akwa Ibom State Governor Ibanga Akpabio


Ibanga Akpabio who is current Deputy Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom state has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in connection with fraud.
Ibanga is the younger brother of Godswill Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom state who is now a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. EFCC sources said the senior Akpabio is facing separate investigations over his mismanagement and embezzlement of Akwa Ibom state fund.

Sources at the EFCC told Saharareporters that Mr. Ibanga was arrested and detained at the Zonal offices of the EFCC in Port Harcourt for defrauding a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Robinson Uwak. He is also being interrogated over allegations of fraud and money laundering according to EFCC operatives.
SaharaReporters recently obtained a telephone recording of Ibanga Akpabio where he bragged about his connections with security agencies as well as the chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.
