It
was meant to be a low-key party, but the huge turnout of dignitaries at the 54th
birthday celebration of Dr. Taiwo
Afolabi, the Executive Vice Chairman of Sifax Group showed that is a
gold fish which has no hiding place. It
was also a moment that evoked joyful recollections of the abundant blessings
enjoyed over the years, and
conviviality at his Ikoyi home recently.
The soiree had old and new friends of
the shipping magnate in attendance. From bankers to big players in the oil and
gas industry, and from politicians to top players in the corporate world, the
ceremony was a roll call of who is who, and for that, the SAHCOL boss was full
of excitement.
The evening was filled with
sensational thrills and the cozy venue paved way for an enjoyable experience.
The celebration officially commenced with a short prayer session in the
morning, after which, a band and Disc Jockey, took the joyful moment to
the next level with soulful Oldskool jams. And much later he swung into the new
contemporary hits-and guests danced gleefully.
The High point of the event was the
entrance of Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojja ll. His entrance added a
touch of Royalty as well as spice to the occasion. He did not walk alone; he
came in with his beautiful wife and an entourage.
The King and his Queen came into the
venue in regal style. They were chauffeur driven in a white Rolls-Royce Phantom
which the special number plate “Oonirisha”, the celebrant and his friends
stepped out of to welcome the royal party-and then the party went back into
full swing. The Ooni and his Olori later presented a gift to the celebrant.
Another Monarch, the ever cheerful
Oba Saheed Elegushi and Akinshiku of Lagos and many more where was also in
attendance, he came in with his beautiful wife too. He stormed the venue and he
went straight to exchange pleasantries with the Ooni.
