CBN dissolves Skye Bank board, Appoints Abero as new MD

 

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday sacked top executives of Skye Bank Plc over failure to meet required capital adequacy ratio, poor liquidity ratio and high level of non-performing loans.
The bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Oguntayo, and the chairman resigned before the CBN announcement.
Mr. Tokunbo Abero has been appointed the new Group Managing Director/ CEO, while M.K Ahmad is the new Chairman of the bank.
The Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, assured customers that the bank is not in distress.

Court grants Alison-Madueke’s associate, Omokore; Andrew Yakubu, conditional bail

 

A Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, has granted bail to the chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept; a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Andrew Yakubu, and four others.
Mr. Omokore, an ally of former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, and Mr. Yakubu were charged along with a co-owner of Atlantic Energy, Kola Aluko; Victor Briggs; Abiye Memnere; David Mbanefo; Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited.
Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, who gave the ruling, ordered the defendants to provide bail bonds of N50 million each, with one surety in like sum.

Court grants Fani-Kayode, Nenadi Usman conditional bail

A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a N250 million bail to former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who is facing corruption trial before Justice Muslim Hassan.
The judge also granted bail in the same sum to Mr. Fani-Kayode’s co-defendants, Nenadi Usman, former Finance Minister; and Danjuma Yusuf.

EFCC arraigns Jide Omokore, former NNPC GMD, Yakubu, others

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday arraigned Jide Omokore, the chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited, and Andrew Yakubu, a former group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, on money laundering charges.
A statement by the EFCC said Mr. Omokore and Mr. Yakubu were charged before Binta Murtala-Nyako at the Federal High Court Abuja on a four-count of money laundering.

N2.5billion: Oduah denies opening account in maid's name

 

Senator Stella Oduah representing Anambra North senatorial district has refuted claims that she allegedly opened N2.5 billion account in her maid’s name. It was reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are of the view that a bank account opened by Stella Oduah contained allegedly stolen N2.5billion. Media also reports that the account was opened without the knowledge of the maid to prevent anybody from knowing she was the real owner of the huge sum of money.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally arrested  the former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, wanted for misappropriation of funds.

Authoritative sources from the Commission confirmed Omisore’s arrest on Sunday, saying that “he is currently being detained”.

“Yes, he has been arrested, detained and undergoing interrogation. That’s what I can say for now,” the source said.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has appealed to Nigerians to stop blaming Fulani herdsmen for every attack that happens in some parts of the country. The Sultan said this during a dinner organised for religious leaders, security agencies and media practitioners in his palace in Sokoto over the weekend.

“If criminals are doing bad things, they are criminals and they can be found anywhere in any religion and tribe. Therefore don’t add religious or tribal toga to any act of terrorism.
Fulani men are only after their cattle not after any government or its policies and programmes. How can they carry weapons, to go and do what with it?” he queried
