Suicide Bomber Kills Five Soldiers, Injures 40 In North East

 

At least five soldiers were killed and another 40 injured when a Boko Haram jihadist rammed an explosives-laden pick-up truck into a military convoy in northeast Nigeria, security sources told AFP on Friday. The bomber, believed to be loyal to factional leader Abu Mus’ab Al-Barnawi, targeted the convoy, which was conducting “clearance operations” between Yobe and Borno states, two military officers said.

“At about 1100 hours (1000 GMT) on Thursday, a suicide bomber believed to be a Boko Haram terrorist riding in a van loaded with explosives rammed into a military convoy at Manguzum village,” one said.

museum in China has put the country's first ever nuclear-powered submarine on display in celebration of the 68th anniversary of the People's Liberation Army Navy. There are only four other countries that have retained a nuclear powered submarine after it has been decommissioned.
As of April 25, tourists have been able to explore the submarine and get first hand experience on what it's like onboard. The submarine is the first of its kind to go on display at the Naval Museum in Qingdao on the coast of east China's Shandong province.

Visitors were able to access the attraction from April 25.

As we draw close to the April 21 release, it becomes clear that Samsung’s latest flagships might actually become the best-selling smartphones of this year. Korean reports recently revealed that Samsung managed to surpass the 1 million mark when it comes to pre-orders for its new devices.

Samsung recorded more than 1 million pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + in its home country, during more than 10 days since the pre-order process started in South Korea. The data was collected from local telecom carriers and shows the highest-ever figure for a new smartphone in the country.

The smartphone maker has set a sales target of more than 60 million units for the Galaxy S8, compared to 52 million sold Galaxy S7 units. The latest figure shows that Samsung has indeed surpassed its previously set pre-order target, but that doesn’t mean that all 1 million customers will end up buying the phone.

Fani Kayode in an email to Vanguard said that he was not losing any sleep over Amaechi’s threat to sue and that when he gets any letter from Amaechi’s lawyer he will respond.

“We have been inundated with calls concerning about a threat by Rotimi Amaechi to sue Chief Fani-Kayode for defamation over the 43 million USD issue. We are not losing any sleep over this matter.
