48 Years Of Range Rover: The Evolution Of The World’s Most Luxurious SUV

Since its inception in 1969 (as a prototype), Range Rover has evolved into one of the world's most elegant and sophisticated SUVs, with any number of who’s who celebrities driving one, and it has since cracked more than one million units sold (1.7 million to date, to be exact). Talk of luxurious, refined, well-engineered, and pioneering designs, there is probably one SUV that springs to mind … Range Rover.

Forty-eight years on and it’s hard to sum up the brand’s heritage in a simple two-minute space, but it was long enough for Range Rover to celebrate this motoring icon through a specially commissioned animation — created to mark key dates in history for the legendary SUV.

Four people were killed and two were injured on Monday when a small plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in Riverside, California, authorities said. The Cessna 310 crashed about a half-mile northeast of the Riverside Municipal Airport, according to Ian Gregor, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman. It had departed from Riverside en route to San Jose. Riverside Fire Chief Michael Moore said the plane, which had five people on board, split apart when it hit two homes, which reportedly had residents.

The management of Queen’s College, Yaba, in Lagos, has sent senior students home, after two students allegedly died of diarrhoea, between Thursday, February 23 and Friday, February 24, 2017.
Two female boarding students, Vivian Osuinyi and Bithia Itulua reportedly died after vomiting and stooling after they allegedly ate Spaghetti and drank water served in the Refectory by the college cooks.

The school sent the students home on the directive of officials from the Federal Ministry of Health and their colleagues from Lagos State who have opened investigations into the deaths. Already, the officials from the Federal Ministry are in the school, to determine what allegedly killed the two female students.

The management of Osun State University, Osogbo has resolved to expel over 4,000 students of the institution who refused to pay their tuition fees within the stipulated period which would expire on 28 of February.

In a press statement issued from the Corporate Affairs Unit of the university and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr Gafar Shitu, the management of UNIOSUN said any student that failed to pay the tuition fees before the expiration of February 28, 2017 deadline would no longer be considered to be a student of the university.

Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, on Monday, February 27th, presented a cheque of N3.5million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lagos

Speaking at the presentation, the musician said that he was particularly touched when he visited camps of the Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) in the North-East.

Speaking with journalists at the Olusosun refuse dump site in Ojota, the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni on Monday, said the government will start crushing and recycling over 4,000 impounded commercial motorcycles, (aka Okada) in line with the provisions of the State Traffic Law of 2012. Owoseni said the recent restriction on Okadas was due to the government’s resolve to fight security concerns posed by criminal operators, adding that criminals habitually use okada to perpetrate crime and easily get away from the scene of the crime.

Xenophobic attacks continued in Pretoria, South Africa today. Some of the protesting South Africans broke into a pakistani owned textile shop in Atteridge ville inPretoria and carted away most of the Fabrics. They also attacked trucks carrying items.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo inspected toilets and carousel during a surprise visit to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, on Thursday.
Osinbajo was accompanied on the tour of the airport’s facilities by Hadi Sirika, minister of state for aviation.
Ephraim Nwodo, general manager, mechanical, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), conducted Osinbajo round the airport.
The facilities inspected by the acting president included the conveyor belt, travollator, visa on arrival section, screening machines and the new departure terminal, which is under construction.

EFCC to recover 17 vehicles from ex-Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, Photos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered seventeen exotic vehicles in a warehouse of the former Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde located at Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Kaduna.

The recovery was sequel to an intelligence the commission received that stolen money and properties suspected to proceeds of crime were being stored in the warehouse.
Upon receipt of the intelligence, a team of operatives from the Kano Zonal Office were deployed to carry out the investigation.

Governor Ambode Targets 3000MW 24Hour Power Generation For Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said the quest by the country to achieve energy security can no longer be left for the Federal Government to address alone, just as he revealed plans by the State to attain 24-hour power supply through generation of 3000megawatts of electricity by 2022.
Speaking at Lagos House in Ikeja after receiving the report of the Embedded Power Technical Committee constituted by the State Government with representatives from the public and private sector, Governor Ambode said while the Federal Government continues in its efforts to resolve the power crisis, the sustainable solution going forward would be the pulling together of commitment and resources of all stakeholders in the power value chain.

There was pandemonium as students of the Osun State University, today marched to the streets to protest N10,000 late registration fee imposed by the management of the school.
The Student Joint Campus Committee, Osun State University, Osogbo urge the vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Labode Popoola to remove the N10,000 charge for late registration by students.
According to the students “The management of the institution closed the school portal and reopened it after much pleading but the management added a sum of N10,000 as a penalty for the late registration.

The police in Abuja have announced the arrest of 38-year old Joseph Omoni of Ondo State in connection with the kidnapping of the Secretary of the Isheri Estate Landlord Association, an incident in which three private security men were killed.
It described the suspect as a “vicious and notorious kidnapper” who “participated actively in the kidnap of Turkish school children and members of staff in Ogun State.”

New management appoints KPMG to audit Arik Air

The new management of Arik Air has announced the appointment of the firm of KPMG to undertake a forensic and diagnostic audit of the finances of the airline to ascertain the true state of its finances.

According to a statement by the new management of the carrier on Tuesday, the review will among other objectives cover the position of assets and liabilities and their utilisation; recording and utilisation of loans; and propriety of third party transactions. It will also cover fraud controls over procurement, agents and business partners and financial reporting, and Arik Air’s financial position as of January 31, 2017.

Nigerian music legend, Majek Fashek is set to drag Timi Dakolo to court . His manager, Uzoma Day Omenka, said they would be suing Timi Dakolo for using Majek’s all time hit, ‘Send down the rain’ without authorization.
He said before the end of March after their return from a trip to the United Kingdom, they would file the suit unless Dakolo can provide proof of authorization by any representative of Majek.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on Sunday said it had discovered deep rooted rot at embattled airline, Arik Air.
AMCON said it would require over N10 billion to fix the rot before the largest local carrier could resume full and uninterrupted flight operations to its regular routes across the country and beyond
The asset company made the disclosure in a statement signed by its Spokesman, Mr Jude Nwauzor in Lagos.
The airline was on Feb. 9 taken over by the Federal Government under the auspices of AMCON as a result of a whooping debt profile of over N300 billion.

BREAKING: - FG Takes Over Arik Airline

The Federal Government has taken over the operations of troubled Arik Air to save it from total collapse. Arik Air has been immersed in heavy financial debt that has threatened to permanently ground the airline, Sundiata post reports. The Airline, which carries about 55 percent of the load in the country, has been going through difficult times that are attributable to its bad corporate governance, erratic operational challenges, inability to pay staff salaries and heavy debt burden among other issues.

The former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode was at the Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday February 8, for hearing on a criminal charge leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While the former minister appearance in court was not unusual, his dressing was surprising to many Nigerians, Fani-Kayode was dressed in a sky blue shirt, a Chinos trousers.

He also adorned his dressing with a White Jewish tallit marked with dark blue stripes.

This particular dressing has been worn by the president of the United States of America Donald Trump - of whom Fani-Kayode is an ardent supporter.
