The notable lawyer and human rights activist died at the St Nicholas Hospital in Lagos in March 28. He was aged 82 and survived by his wife, Grace, 5 children and many grandchildren.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said that it was a matter of great concern to him that nearly two-thirds of states of the federation are still having difficulties with salary payments despite the bail-out funds provided to them by the Federal Government.

EFCC Arrests Fidelity Bank MD For Receiving Diezani’s $115m

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, and some officials for allegedly receiving $115m from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The EFCC also arrested the bank’s Head of Operations, Mr. Martins Izuogbe, for his role in the alleged scam, which the anti-graft agency described as unprecedented.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja said on Monday that it would no longer hear applications for a stay of proceedings in the trials of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki; a former National Security Adviser, Col. The ruling APC has enjoyed a morale-boosting victory against the major opposition party in the north-east following the recently held by-election in Yobe. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has won the Damaturu/Tarmuwa/Gujba/Gulani federal constituency by-election in Yobe.

The Returning Officer of the election, Sunday Alao, on Saturday in Damaturu declared APC candidate, Abdullahi Kukuwa, the winner. Mr. Kukuwa scored 23,745 votes to defeat Nasiru Hassan of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 6,990 votes to emerge second.

UNIZIK Final Year Students Make Mini Bus From Local Materials

Seven final-year engineering students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, designed and constructed a mini bus from scratch with locally sourced materials made specially to suit Nigeria’s topography and climatic condition. “The bus was constructed from start to finish at the University’s workshop, using all necessary design software and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. FG Approves Air Peace To Fly Directly To China

The Nigerian government has granted an airliner, Air Peace, a license to operate international flights from southeast city of Enugu to China and other areas, an official said on Thursday.
The recognition would open a new vista in the economy of the state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the state governor during the closing ceremony of the First Enugu Investment Summit.
