Owa Obokun Of Ijesaland Advises Journalists (Photos)

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II has advised journalists to be cautious in their reportage and uphold the ethics of the profession.
Oba Adekunle expressed his dissatisfaction and disappointment over an on-line report insinuating the monarch has passed on.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has given a directive that henceforth no public or private primary and secondary school in the state should hold morning or afternoon prayers.

The governor also directed that all teachers with effect from next year must be in suits during official hours. A letter signed by the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Education, Mrs Anne O. Odey, dated October 21, said the suspension of prayers will subsist till further notice.

Supreme Court Dismisses Appeal By PDP Challenging Okorocha’s Election

The Supreme Court has dismissed appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the April 11, 2015 election in Imo State, Mister Emeka Ihedioha, challenging the election of Governor Rochas Okorocha.

The seven-man panel of the Supreme Court presided over by Justice John Fabiyi, held that Ihedioha’s appeal lacked merit.

Senator Gyang Nyam Pwajok, the Plateau State PDP gubernatorial candidate in the last election has died. He died this morning in India after a battle with kidney disease.

Pwajok fought a close battle in the April governorship election, losing to the eventual winner and now governor, Simon Lalong. Olisa Metuh has confirmed his passing! May his soul rest in peace.

The Ooni of Ife designate, Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi, this afternoon made a grand entrance into the ancient city of Ile Ife in Osun state ahead of his coronation as the 51st Ooni of Ife. He takes over from Oba Okunade Sijuwade who died in July. Ogunwusi was received at the Ife Ibadan Tollgate.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian were married in 2009 and split four years later. The former NBA player became much more famous thanks to his association with the famous family.

Troops of 28 Task Force Brigade Nigerian Army deployed at Bitta and Pridang yesterday October 27th, carried out a successful raid on suspected Boko Haram terrorists camps at Bulajilin and Manawashe villages along Bita and Damboa road at the fringes of Sambisa forest. Prince Adeyemi Aromolaran, a son to Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, has dispelled the rumour that the monarch has joined his ancestors.

Prince Adeyemi who expressed shock over the rumoured death confirmed that Oba Aromolaran is alive; hale and healthy.
Adeyemi said the royal family has been besieged with torrents of calls to confirm if the king is alive or not.

The Supreme Court will on Tuesday deliver a judgment on whether or not the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal which nullified the election of Governor Nyesom Wike on Saturday had the jurisdiction to hear the case against the governor.

The Justice Mohammed Ambrosa-led tribunal had on Saturday nullified Wike’s election as it upheld allegations by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside, that the election which held on April 11, 2015 was conducted in substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

Buhari Appoints New INEC Chairman

President Buhari has appointed Mahmud Yakubu as the substantive chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC. Yakubu's appointment was approved during the council of state meeting which held at the state house today October 21st. Yakubu takes over from Amina Zakari who has been working as INEC Chairman in acting capacity since Attahiru Jega left office in June. She was appointed INEC commissioner for the North-East.

Yesterday, October 20, President Buhari ordered the sacking of the former head of the civil service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, just two months to the expiration of his tenure.
However, the sacking which came with immediate effect did not come with the announcement of a new replacement until the early hours of today, Wednesday, October 21.
