Senator Smart Adeyemi Floors Dino Melaye At The Appeal Court

 

The court of appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday 21 September 2015 rejected the application of Senator Dino Melaye to overrule itself by upholding the ruling of the tribunal which struck out the petition of Senator Smart. The tribunal under the chairmanship of Akon Ikpeme had in its ruling of June 18th held that the former NUJ president petition was “incurably defective” a decision the court of appeal had already set aside.

I Resigned My Apointment Because Of Corruption – Christopher Kolade

 

Christopher Kolade, ex-chairman of the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme, has named the reasons why he resigned his position in 2013.
He said the operations of the porgramme were becoming tainted with corruption and politics, thereby losing its credibility.
Kolade, who spoke on Channels Television Programme, “Views From The Top”, added that some officials of the government of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan were practising “something that was lower than the transparency”, expected of an interventionist agency like SURE-P‎.

Bailout, Gov Aminu Masari deceived Presidency On Outstanding Workers Salaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has been reportedly mislead by Aminu Masari, the governor of Katsina state, where the president hails from.
The charade by the governor was done with the aim of obtaining N11 billion bailout, stipulated to pay salary arrears for workers in the state.
According to an investigation by Premium Times, Katsina state feigned insolvency and applied as one of the 27 states in need of bailout from the federal government to pay workers owed salaries for months.

Buhari Withdraws Diplomatic, Official Passports From Ex- Governors

The Nigerian Immigration Service has directed former Nigerian public office holders to immediately surrender official and diplomatic passports issued to them while they were in office.
The action, officials say, is based on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The categories of officials affected by the directive are former governors, former ministers, former senators, former members of the House of Representatives, and former members of state Houses of Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Aburi, Ghana reassured Nigerians and the international community that he will name his cabinet before the end of the month.

President Buhari gave the assurance at a joint press conference with President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.

“After I was sworn-in, I said I will have my cabinet in September. I expect that Nigerians should ask me questions after the 30th of September if I do not do so,” President Buhari said while responding to a question on the appointment of ministers.

The staff of Nigerdock (Snake Island) on Friday had a peaceful protest, where they complained to the management of the company about series of unfair sacking and delayed salaries. Appeal Court Upholds Governor Okorocha Election Victory

 

The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, has struck out the case filed by Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, challenging the dismissal of his petition by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Ihedioha was challenging the declaration of Chief Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governor of Imo State.

IGP Bans Use Of Commercial Buses For Police Patrol

 

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has directed all police commands and formations to stop the use of commercial vehicles for operations and patrol duties.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, in Abuja on Thursday.

The statement said that the directive had been circulated to all police formations and commands across the country.
